StarwoodGuy: Four Points Perth

The third post of my Australia trip iss Melbourne to Perth and my stay in Perth.

After leaving the hotel in Melbourne I headed to the airport in an Uber, with much less traffic on a Sunday then I had experienced Friday on my way into town. The Qantas lounges in Melbourne are undergoing large updating currently and as a result the Qantas Club Lounge and the Business Lounge are both quite busy, the former even more so with more people able to access the Qantas Club as opposed to the Business Lounge. I was excited to take the new Dreamliner 787-900 which Qantas will be flying from Melbourne to Perth and then on to London as of March 25th, but as it was still February this plane was just returning to Melbourne. The Dreamliner is one of my favorite planes and Qantas has done a wonderful job with these Business pods. The menu was excellent for a domestic service especially compared to US carriers and there was a large amount of content for me still to get through on the large television screens even after , I started in on my James Bond marathon. The bin space is also massive with each passenger having space for three large carry-ons if needed.

My trip to Perth was to visit one of my best-friends from High School, so I stayed one night with him before checking into the Four Points Sheraton just on the edge of Downtown close to Kings Park and City West. I had hoped on staying at the new Westin hotel in a condominium hotel complex but unfortunately the project had fallen behind schedule and the old Sheraton is now a different property, so it was either the Four Points or the Aloft over the river.

My trip consisted of catching up and re-acquainting myself with Perth, a city I had lived in for three years almost twenty years earlier for university. It was an amazing trip, though somewhat surreal. Perth had grown a little as a city, but still as the world's most isolated major city, it truly is a city that feels on the edge of the earth. The beaches are still stunning, the University and the town still welcoming and small in comparison to Melbourne but with much to see and do, and some fabulous neighborhoods, many connected by the efficient train system and supplemented by river boats and buses.

I had stayed away for way to long. I would love to try the Westin on my next stay but the Four Points was a very business efficient and well renovated property with good amenities for a city hotel.
